Biography

Dr. Jacob (Jake) Shivley is an Arkansas native who attended both undergraduate and veterinary medical school at Mississippi State University. He received his BS with honors in Wildlife and Fisheries Science in 2004. He also obtained his DVM with honors from the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 followed by an internship in small animal medicine and surgery in 2009.  A specialty small animal surgery internship at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital completed in 2010 solidified his love for surgery. Although he enjoys all aspects of surgery, he is very interested in soft tissue surgery, HQHVSN techniques, and wound management. His publications reflect this and his desire for high quality veterinary medical education.

After a memorable 3 years in private practice at New Hope Animal Hospital in Rogers, AR, Dr. Shivley naturally found his way back into academia at his alma mater MSU-CVM where he completed a Master's Degree in Population Medicine and veterinary medical education. He is currently an Associate Clinical Professor and couldn't be happier teaching veterinary medicine and leading worship at his local church, New Horizons Christian Fellowship (NHCF). New Horizons Worship is a collective of songwriters and musicians fostered in NHCF and is releasing original music.
